Grounding Measurement

 Grounding Measurement

Grounding measurement report is one of the competence documents requested by many institutions and workplaces. Many official institutions or organizations, such as TSE certification, trademark registration, the ministry of labor and social security, municipal license affairs, occupational safety inspection, fire brigade, request reports. The grounding measurement report is approved and given by experienced and expert persons connected to the chamber of electrical engineers.
Although electricity is often not noticed, it is an important element of our lives. Electricity, which provides great convenience for our lives, should also be taken precautions in some issues. Especially in a place where grounding measures are not taken, the security threat can be quite high. In general, grounding measurement is the connection of inactive metal parts of electric vehicles that do not carry loads under voltage with the ground through metal parts.
Grounding Report
In accordance with the EK-P article of the electrical facilities grounding regulation, the measurement, reports and evaluation of the conformity of the electrical facilities are carried out by the Electrical, Electrical - Electronics Engineers who are members of EMO. In order to be able to make these measurements, it is necessary to be made by the personnel who have the title of engineer and authorization certificate.
Grounding Report Measuring and Inspection
The procedures to be done during report creation are as follows, as explained in the regulation article 10-a. These processes, which are periodically controlled, are as follows;

  •         Visual examination,
  •         Measurement and inspection of the continuity of the main and complementary potential equalization conductors of protection conductors,
  •         Electrical plant insulation resistance measurement and control,
  •         Soil resistivity measurement,
  •         Ground resistance measurement,
  •         Control whether the feed is automatically cut or not,
  •         Loop impedance control,
  •         Fault current protection scheme control

Earthing Measurement and Earthing Report Periods
The periods determined are as follows for the inspection, measurement and inspection processes of the various earthing facilities during the operation period;

  •         2 years for electricity generation, transmission and distribution facilities,
  •         5 years for energy transmission and distribution lines,
  •         1 - 2 years for industrial facilities and trade centers,
  •         1 year for unstable facilities
  •

What Should Be the Grounding Measurement?

It is calculated with the limit value formula according to the grounding regulation. Panels, machines are made by considering the fuse and residual current relay values ??of the socket. Grounding measurement variations must be acted upon. These variations

  •         Residual current relay 30 mA. If available 50 V./0.03 A = 200 ohms limit value
  •         Leak current relay 300mA. If available, limit value of 50 V./0.3 A = 80 ohms
  •         If there is no residual current relay and thyroid is installed in the main switch; 1 A. If 50V./1A=50 ohm limit value

        If there is no residual current relay and there is no thyroid in the main switch, the measurement is taken from the fuse value, the example is B class, if we consider 16 A, 50 V./16x5=0,625 limit value
        If there is no residual current relay and there is no thyroid in the main switch, the fuse value is measured, for example B class, if we consider 25 A, 50 V./5x25=0.4 ohm limit value
        If there is no residual current relay and there is no thyroid in the main switch, the fuse value is measured, if we consider 25 A for example C class, the limit value of 50 V./25x10=0.2 ohms

Grounding Measurement Times

It is 1 year for fixed operating devices and machines and 6 months for non-stationary operating equipment. 2 years for electricity generation, transmission and distribution facilities, 1 year for industrial facilities and trade centers, and 5 years for energy transmission and distribution lines.
Factors Affecting Grounding Measurement
Vegetative structures or other electrical facilities can expand the size. Different grounding electrodes are needed for such modifications. Adding more sensitive modern computer-controlled equipment to the facilities and amplifying electrical noise in possible situations. Old equipment can also cause electrical noise due to incompatibility with these new equipment. Systems such as laying non-metallic pipes and ducts underground threaten safety in terms of low ground resistance.
