There are a variety of situations and settings in which anyone can experience social anxiety. Many studies are conducted to determine the level of this anxiety. One of the most effective of these today is LSAS.
Social connection is one of the most important needs for humans. But for most people, social interaction also triggers fear, anxiety, and anxiety. Anxiety often stems from a fear of being judged, criticized by others, or self-embarrassment. It can also be alarming to be the center of attention, such as receiving a reward or others confirming your birthday.
Social anxiety and anxiety are quite common today. Most people experience some anxiety, especially in unfamiliar situations. In this regard, they often avoid important situations or endure them helplessly and with great distress. Scales such as LSAS are used to determine the situation regarding these issues.

LSAS - what is the Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale?
The Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale (LSAS | Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale) is a questionnaire study developed in 1987 by Michael Liebowitz, a psychiatrist and researcher at Columbia University. For LSAS, in Turkish, "phobia" or "anxiety" expressions can be used instead of "anxiety". The purpose of LSAS is to help diagnose social anxiety disorder. With the questions asked, the fears, social interactions and social skills of the patients are determined.
LSAS is widely used in today´s medical world. This study is often used to examine results in clinical trials and to evaluate the effectiveness of cognitive and behavioral treatments. LSAS consists of 24 questions divided into two subscales. Of these, 13 are related to performance anxiety (anxiety), the remaining 11 are related to social situations. When LSAS was first developed, it was a rating scale administered by clinicians only. However, it is also widely used today as a self-report scale.

How to Use LSAS?
There are 24 questions about performance and social status in LSAS. These questions, firstly on the 0 to 3 Likert Scale; According to the fear felt in the situations, the same items are then graded in terms of avoiding the situation. Combining the total scores of the fear and avoidance sections, a maximum of 144 points in total is obtained. In LSAS versions administered by clinical therapists, there are four different scales that are not included in the LSAS itself. These scales are:
Fear of social interaction
Fear of performance
• Avoiding social interaction
Avoiding performance
LSAS evaluates the role social anxiety plays in your life in various situations. Before answering LSAS questions, the following points should be considered:
• You must read each situation carefully and answer two different questions about this situation.
o The first question is asked how anxious or fearful you are in the situation described in the question. You should choose one of the "none, less, medium and much" options.
o The second question asks how often you avoid this situation. You should choose "never, sometimes, often, usually".
• If you are faced with a situation you do not normally experience, you need to think about "what will happen if you are faced with it" and then evaluate how much you will be afraid and tend to avoid this hypothetical situation.

24. Resisting a high pressure dealer

After answering the questions, you will be given a score between 0 and 100. According to this score obtained from LSAS, the result is as follows:
0 - 29: You have no social anxiety
30 - 49: Mild social anxiety
50 - 64: Moderate social anxiety
65 - 79: Pronounced social anxiety
80 - 94: Severe social anxiety
