The final version of the regulation, which was first adopted by the Council of Europe in 1989, was published in 2016 and the two-year transition period has started. In Turkey, the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services entered into force as the "Personal Protective Equipment Regulation" in the Official Gazette No. 30761 on May 1, 2019. The regulation, formerly 89/686 / EEC, is now in force as 2016/425 (EU). Tulum CE Certificate and other documents issued under the old directive will be valid until April 21, 2023.

How to Get Tulum CE Certificate?
Manufacturers producing a variety of overalls covered by the relevant directive should contact accredited inspection and certification bodies to obtain a CE Certificate. These organizations inspect the overalls production process of the companies on site, examine the reports and documents they prepare, and if necessary, run the process by performing tests on the product.
At this point, it is worth noting that the same tests are not performed for each overall. According to PPE / PPE Regulation, protective overalls are divided into three categories: simple, intermediate and complex. Products that contain minimal risks Category 1; Overalls that are required to be worn by employees working in healthcare operations that have fatal risks and are considered in Category 3. Other conditions and products are specified in Category 2. Producers that produce overalls for work that does not involve any risk and do not fall into the dangerous class can publish the CE declaration themselves, regardless of any organization.
One of the most important issues for manufacturers who want to obtain Tulum CE Certificate is the technical file. This document is examined by the relevant auditing firm and approved if the necessary conditions are met. A technical file should generally contain the following information:
• Intended use of the product
• Risk analysis in accordance with the regulation
• Safety and health criteria related to the product
• Technical information of the product; drawing, lower parts, assembly etc.
• Production process of the product and the methods used; If there are transactions made by other companies, details of these
• Technical specifications used in the manufacture of the product, national or international standards, acceptance etc.
• Detailed results of all calculations, analyzes, tests and experiments
• User manual of the product (according to the criteria specified in the Regulation)
• The measures taken by the manufacturer in order to protect human and environmental health in the stages of product production, storage, distribution etc.

A manufacturer who wants to obtain Tulum CE Certificate has to undergo different tests, especially if he is producing clothes used in risky operations. These tests include high temperature test, flammability test, air or water permeability test, particle count test, structural durability and strength test, accelerated life test, chemical reaction test, radioactive test, etc.
